The Spartan Club

The 173d Airborne Brigade National Memorial was constructed and dedicated as a result of donations from more than 1,600 individuals, organizations and corporate sponsors The construction fund drive received a significant contribution from the proceeds of the “Day of Honor Concert” organized by William K. Alphin and John D. Rich, (better know as “Big and Rich”)
The 173d Airborne Brigade Memorial is a magnificent structure dedicated to the warriors of one of the finest units in the United States army. In 2011, the Memorial Foundation Board of Directors established the “Spartan Club” with the goal of recruiting 300 “Spartans” whose were asked to pledge annual contributions beginning at $25.00 for ten years with the goal of creating an Endowment Fund to maintain the Memorial.*

Company D 16th Armor: One of Only Two Company Size Units
at The "Commander Level" of the Spartan Club
The D16 effort is remarkable considering the small size of the company
and the short duration of its existence.
D16 would especially like to thank Tom Bellus, 1st Platoon, D16 1966-1967, for his generous donation of artwork sold at silent auctions at D16 Reunions. The proceeds were donated to the 173d Memorial Association. Here are a few of his donations.
